A SUCCESSFUL AND MEANINGFUL CAMPING 2011
Wassenaar Campus — After decades of vacuum it was the first time SIN Wassenaar’s civitas academica to have a camping through the Scout Programme again. Organised from Friday afternoon through Saturday morning, 20-21 May 2011, it was combined with the commemoration of the National Awakening Day of 20 May.
Almost all kids took part in the activity, and were mostly very excited particularly among the boys, so that some of them were late going to sleep.
The activity started with an opening ceremony, led by Mr. Sundawan and Ms. Arbayah Kumalawati. Other facilitators were Mr. Wariso, Ms. Emma, Ms. Roos, Mr. Sumardi and Mr. Gun. It was subsequently followed by interesting scouting games organised by Mr. Sundawan, Ms. Emma dan Mr. Wariso, such as installing the tents, cooking/preparing dinner, semaphore competition, “moving the (water)bombs”, etc. Delicious sate provided by the school was also grilled in the late afternoon. The rice and “cincau hitam” specially supplied by Ms. Aty from Asrama.
Early evening our Embassy’s Chargé d’affaires ad interim, Mr. Umar Hadi, Attaché of Education, Mr. Ramon Mohandas, Coordinator of Political Affairs, Mr. L. Simbolon, Defence Attaché, Mr. Wisnu Sumarto, and his assistant, Mr. Yadi Nurfendi, Ms. Djena, Ms. Dessy, and other parents/guardians. In his brief remarks to the participants, Mr. Mohandas encouraged the students to learn life-skills optimally during this good opportunity.
It was very successful and unforgettable. SIN Wassenaar would like to extend its sincere gratitude to all stakeholders and benefactors of this activity.
