Wassenaar Campus — It was a genuine previlidge for SIN Wassenaar to have a studium generale on forest and orangutan conservation programe in Indonesia from the delegation of Her Royal Highness Princess Gusti Kanjeng Ratu Pembayun (Chairperson of the Yayasan Konservasi Alam, Yogyakarta), Mr. Willie Smits and entourage, Monday afternoon, 16 January 2012.
In her welcoming statement, SIN Wassenaar’s Director, Ms. Arbayah emphasised that this special opportunity would stimulate and widen the knowledge of our students on the issues, as well as highly appreciate the delegation and the Indonesian Embassy that had facilitated and arranged the programme. The studium generale itself is a periodical programme of SIN Wassenaar to invite certain experts and practitioners from various fields to share their knowledge and experiences with our civitas academica.
Ms. G.K.R. Pembayun also expressed her compliments to SIN Wassenaar and informed the forum about the Urangudome in Yogyakarta, a large and cutting-edge biosphere facility to conserve the gibbon species especially the orangutans.
In his turn, Mr. Smits, an Indonesian of Dutch origin, awesomely introduced and explained about the history, eventually the current stage of the conservation programme he had helped to manage and the incoming activities. To encourage the students, he offered a quizz with 100 euro incentive for the winner. Through an enthusiastic and competitive discussion, one of our students, Rasyida Noor won the contest, and the money was directly handed over by G.K.R. Pembayun to the winner.
During the studium general our embassy was represented by Mr. Bonifatius Agung Herindra and Mr. Akio Alfiano Tamala.
