CANDEA COLLEGE’S PEAR TREE AT SIN WASSENAAR 2012
Wassenaar Campus — This Thursday, 10 May 2012, SIN Wassenaar welcomed Mr. J. Razenberg (Director) and Ms. Marieke van ‘t Veld (an English teacher) of the Candea College, Duiven. The visit was made to further explore a new collaborative project between the Candea College and SIN Wassenaar, which is dubbed as “Crossing Borders”. Using the ever expanding opportunity of the Internet, the programme will facilitate sharing and exchanging activities through a common web-based platform for participating students and teachers from Candea College and SIN Wassenaar which would include our partner schools in Indonesia as well. At the outset it is designed to start at small scale first in terms of involvement and scope of collaboration. There would be a wide range of issues to be exchanged and shared, from educational to cultural, from norms and values to cuisines of both nations (Indonesia and The Netherlands).
Ms. Arbayah Kumalawati (SIN Wassenaar’s Director) welcomed this initiative very much. It is expected to boost the exisiting warm relationship between these two nations in smaller landscape, and naturally would bring benefits to both sides.
As a token of this initiative and friendship, SIN Wassenaar received a very special gift from the Candea College, namely a pear tree (Conference), that will planted in our yard, and be called the Candea’s pear tree as would grow and yield fruits in years to come. We appreciate such gift so much as we welcome the initiative that would be formally launched in September 2012.
