Wassenaar, 2 May 2014 — SIN Wassenaar celebrated the National Education Day on Friday, 2 May 2014. A special ceremony was set up in which occasion our Principal, Mr. Budi W. Rianto, addressed our school community with the official speech of Indonesia’s Minister of Education and Culture, Dr. M. Nuh.
Through the event Mr. Rianto reminded our students to prepare themselves to face the competitive ASEAN market which will be effective from this year.
Palembang, 21-26 April 2014 — The Directorate for Primary Education, Ministry of Education and Culture organised SILN Competition 2014 in Palembang, South Sumatra, 21-26 April 2014. All SILNs were represented except Indonesian School Beograd and Damascus. SIN Wassenaar took part in 3 contests for Junior High School (group dance, story-telling, and singing) and 2 for Primary School (singing and speech contests). Our school delegation consisted of 7 students:
Led by our Principal, Mr. Budi Wahyu Rianto, our delegates were accompanied by Mrs. Reni and Mrs. Meidy.
Our delegates had performed optimally and done their best in term of our own limitations. Frankly we had to, however, express that other teams were even better and we had sincerely congratulated those champions.
Welcome home our delegation … although this year you were not yet among the champions but for us you are all the winners!
Wassenaar — The National Final Examination 2014 for Senior High School started at SIN Wassenaar this Monday morning, 14 April 2014. The event was briefly opened by our director, Mr. Budi Wahyu Rianto. According to the SOP issued by the National Education Standards Board, the examination will end on Wednesday, 16 April 2014.
This year in total 13 SHS students take the test, 8 majoring in Natural Science (1 student from Labschool Jakarta) and 5 from Social Science. Like in the previous years, we hope this year our students will pass the exam with flying colours. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!
Hilton Hotel, The Hague, 26 March 2014 — It’s an honour for SIN Wassenaar to attend the social gathering organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia at the Hilton Hotel, The Hague, 26 March 2014. What’s made this opportunity so rare and highly valuable was that it’s in the presence of the Indonesia’s Vice President, Prof. Dr. Budiono.
Allotted by the Embassy, SIN Wassenaar was represented by Mr. Budi Wahyu Rianto accompanied by some teachers and student representatives.
Some hundreds people representing Indonesian communities in The Netherlands were present. It was launched with refreshments, followed by welcoming address by H.E. Retno L.P. Marsudi, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, then a speech by the Vice President continued with discussion and, again, closed with refreshments.
Vice President Boediono and his entourage were in The Hague to participate in the 3rd Nuclear Security Summit (NSS) in The Hague on 24-25 March 2014. The Summit itself was attended by 53 states and 4 international organisations.
Oegstgeest — SIN Wassenaar’s Primary School organised a contextual learning activity by visiting the Corpus on 11 February 2014. It was designed to help the students to connect the concept, knowledge and experience they had mastered with the new ones and how they were applied and could be used in the real-life context. Corpus was one of the most distinctive objects in The Netherlands for such field-visit especially on disciplines related to human body. This contextual learning facility itself was built as the exact replica of the human body and inside the visitors can observe and learn about the vital organs of human being. That’s why in Corpus the visitors would be entertained with a ‘journey through human body’ experience.
All primary students took part in this programme and were accompanied and guided by 5 teachers. Based on our evaluation this activity was really helpful in widening our students’ horizon on the subject and effective in bridging the existing concept of the human body and the new knowledge through real experience assisted with cutting-edge technology.
This contextual learning programme was supported by the Directorate General of Primary Education, Ministry of Education and Culture, Jakarta.
