Wassenaar, 17 August 2013 — SIN Wassenaar took part actively during the official celebration of Indonesian independence in The Netherlands 17 August 2013 organised by the Indonesian Embassy. The most obvious features of the involvement were 2 significant contributions: all-SIN colour guard and the aubade platoon.
Colour guard
For the colour guard detachment SIN Wassenaar fielded 20 students, 18 for the flag-hoisting and 2 for ceremonial duty. Starting their training in relatively brief period at the beginning of August 2013, most of the detachment members were fasting on those days (It was a long fasting time at the peak of summer in Europe). We witnessed the strong commitment and high spirit of the students during the whole package of the training. It paid off when they performed splendidly very well on the day of the ceremony on the 17 August 2013 in the premises of the Indonesian Ambassadorial Residence in Wassenaar.
They were trained by First Police Inspector Ms. Diyana Suci Listyawati, and she was also the commandant of the detachment on that day. The training was supervised by Senior Superintendent Ary Laksmana Widjaja (Police Attaché) and Colonel Donald Kasenda (Air Force-Attaché), assisted by our Director, Mr. Budi Wahyu Rianto, Mrs. Safreni, Mrs. Tati, and Mr. Deni.
The colour guard detachment was officially inaugurated on 16 August 2013 in which occasion the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Mrs. Retno L.P. Marsudi conveyed her wish to the colour guard members to perform their duty at the highest level of devotion as well as to defend and hold the ‘Red-White’ flag high all the way through their future.
Aubade platoon
Closing the official ceremony SIN Wassenaar’s aubade platoon recited and sang 3 national aubades: Hari Merdeka, Maju Tak Gentar, and Dari Sabang sampai Merauke. During the performance the platoon members were waving hand-held Indonesian flags.
The platoon was also trained in a short period but proved to perform very well. For the achievement we would like to thank the trainers: Mrs. Rima Widiyanti (pianist), Mr. Rianto, Mr. Wariso, Mrs. Rida Binarsih, Mrs. Safreni, Mrs. Emma, to all our dedicated teachers, and Mr. Balok, as well as the support from our Embassy, parents and guardians.
On that day, one of our teachers, Mrs. Emma Rodini received the best achieving teacher award for 2013. Congratulation!
