CONTEXTUAL LEARNING AT THE “JONGEREN INFORMATIE PUNT” THE HAGUE

JIP The Hague —- Students of 1 SMA and 2 IPS had an opportunity to visit the Jongeren Informatie Punt or Youth Information Point in The Hague, Tuesday, 24 May 2011. JIP is an agency supported by the Dutch Government which provides information and advices to young people aged 12 to 25 years old who have interest or face problems such as teen pregnancy, drug addiction, youth financial problem, youth seeking for work or a place to live, etc.
Annisa Rahmayanti, Annisa Zoontjes, Raisa Alia, Abdurrahman Helmi, Lionel Tambayong, and Pradhana S. Imfianto of 1 SMA; Nadira Febrianti, Qonita Damayanti and Gary Isaac Lekahena from 2 IPS participated in this trip which was collaboratively organised by Ms. Djena and Ms. Dessy.
At the JIP, Ms. Laila, the Agency’s expert on JSO welcomed us and lectured about JIP and some case examples. The meeting was followed with discussion. The students also took a variety of brochures containing information about youth’s problems and advices.
The aim of this visit was to give the students a first-hand experience after getting some theories about youth problems in Sociology classes. Moreover this field-trip was to allow the students to practice their Dutch in real context.
