My Journey to Paris
Andrey P., II SMP, 26 April 2005
One morning in the autumn 2004, I went to Paris with my parents by train. It was a 3 hour journey. After arriving at the Gare du Nord station in Paris, we had to find the hotel, and firstly I was asked by my Dad to study the map of Paris and I just couldn’t read it so I returned it my Dad to read it. But we still couldn’t read the map, because it didn’t show the right direction to the hotel. It was an out-of-date map. And we asked the people but they gave wrong answers. And we walked, walked, and walked and asked again to the people and they just couldn’t understand what my Dad said. Then there was woman got close to us. When my Dad asked her she answered with her language (France) and my Dad understood it a little bit what she said. She told us after the Moulin Rouge we had to turn left. And finally we reached the hotel, and I was really, really, tired and so were my Dad and Mom.
And the next day I went around with my parents, just to know where the Eiffel Tower was, etc. I saw a very big palace with large yard and with a fountain. And I just relaxed there having ice cream. After that we went around and I saw the Eiffel Tower. It was so big, but I couldn’t go there because we were so tired so we went back to the hotel in the evening by metro/subway.
The next morning I got shower and so did my Dad and Mom, and we were ready to go to the Eiffel Tower by bus. Then we got close to the Trocadéro Gardens, which was enclosed by the half-circle formed by the two wings of the Palais de Chaillot, and we took some pictures with the Eiffel Tower as the background. After that we queued to go up to the top of the tower using a lift. At the first story we took some pictures and just looked around. Then we to continued to the second story which I didn’t like because it was not really high, so we continued to the top. There my mother was so scared, and when I looked down, it was so high, wow! I could see the whole city of Paris. Not long after that my mother felt not so well, and I felt so cold on the top of the tower, and when I looked up, I felt as if the tower was moving. And it is very cool. After that we went downstairs, at that time beside me stood a very very stinky man and I felt I wanted to vomit.
When we reached the ground we walked to the Champs-Élysées, where there were a lot of shops. I wanted to climb the I’Arc de Triomph but I didn’t have friends to do it. Around there I took some pictures with my parents, after that we went to McDonald for lunch, after that we went to the shops and I bought a watch, it was a Swatch. Before we returned to the hotel in the evening we just went around. Be side the hotel there was a restaurant so we had dinner there.
In the night I went around with my parents to the Eiffel Tower by bus to see how it looked at night. On the way I saw the tower which was sooooo beautiful. At the top of the tower there was a spotlight which was spinning around. The tower was overwhelmed by colourful lights. We took some pictures with the Eiffel Tower as the background. I just relaxed to enjoy the colourful lights of Eiffel Tower. After that we went back to the hotel and I saw the colourful lights stopped shinning and returned to the normal lights. And I think Paris is a very beautiful city. The next morning we went back to Holland.
