“PASAR MALAM INDONESIA 2011” OPENS TODAY
Malieveld, The Hague — Indonesian Embassy officially launched the “2nd Pasar Malam Indonesia”, Friday afternoon, 1 April 2011. It is a comprehensive event to promote the country and the nation to the Dutch communities especially those who have ties with Indonesia and Indonesians living in The Netherlands and the neighbouring countries. It will end in the evening of 7 April 2011.
The festival this year is expected to break the last year’s achievement that was awarded with an outstanding recognition from the Indonesian Museum of World Record (MURI) as the first Pasar Malam Indonesian organised outside Indonesia continuously in 5 consecutive days. This year it occupies larger area and more provincial governments from throughout Indonesia are represented. Culturally it also provides a larger stage for the performers than earlier which will include 2 cultural delegations from the Indonesian School in The Netherlands (SIN Wassenaar).
The opening ceremony was attended by the former Ambassador, Mr. J.E. Habibie, the chargé d’affaires a.i., Mr. Umar Hadi, Dr. W.F. van Eekelen, a Dutch prominent, representatives and diplomats of friendly nations, staff of Indonesian Embassy, and guests who packed the huge Performance Tent. Besides the Display Area where SIN Wassenaar obtains a promotional booth part of our Embassy desks, undoubtedly the most visited area is the Food Hall. Here the visitors can prove the tastes of uniquely diversed Indonesian cuisines, food and drinks that are rarely found in The Netherlands.
