SIN WASSENAAR CULTURAL DIPLOMACY FEATURES IN THE COMMEMORATION OF 15 AUGUST 2011
World Forum, Churchillplein, The Hague — A team of cultural diplomacy from SIN Wassenaar was invited by the 15 August 1945 Commemoration Foundation to take part in the commemoration this year, at the famed stage of the World Forum in The Hague, which is usually referred as the Legal Capital of the World and the International City of Peace and Justice. SIN Wassenaar cultural delegation consisted of two groups of students: a duo-dancer and a solo dancer.
The first group was Annisa Rahmayanti and Nikita Kemala Putri performed the Batik Kreasi Dance, and the second dance by Nadira Febrianti was the Panji Semirang of Balinese.
The performances amazed the audience who were mostly those who had life experiences in the artistic and cultural beauty of the former Dutch East Indies which later became the Republic of Indonesia from 17 August 1945 onwards. According to one of the organisers, Ms. M. Njiokiktjien, the performaces made by the students so much overwhelmed the audience that retrieved the memory and feeling of the good time in Oost Indië (Tempo Doeloe). The Foundation was very grateful and appreciated the ongoing cooperation with SIN Wassenaar, and this year 4 best achieving students of our primary school were rewarded with The 15 August 1945 Commemoration Foundation Friendship Scholarship.
At noon by the Indisch Monument, beside the Indonesia Embassy, SIN Wassenaar was represented in the commemoration ceremony which was also attended by the Dutch Prime Minister, Mr. Mark Rutte, speakers of the Lower and Upper Houses of Dutch parliament, a junior minister, and represetatives of US, British, Australian, New Zealand embassies and various prominent figures in the society.
