SIN WASSENAAR WELCOMES DUTCH INSPECTORATE OF EDUCATION
Wassenaar Campus — SIN Wassenaar warmly welcomed Mr. M.H. Uunk and Ms. J.M. Elfferich-Schattenberg at our campus on Tuesday, 4 June 2013. Both of our guests were from the Dutch Inspectorate of Education (Nederlandse Inspectie van het Onderwijs).
Satisfying the requirements of the Regeling van de Minister van Onderwijs, Cultuur en Wetenschap of 14 January 2011, No. VO/BVB/143738, since 9 September 2011 SIN Wassenaar has been designated by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science as a “foreign school”. With this status a non-Dutch school in The Netherlands, in principle, is allowed to provide education to any students but it should be supervised and accredited by relevant bodies from the respective country.
After a brief welcoming statement from our Director, Mr. Budi Wahyu Rianto, Mr. Uunk started the session with the history behind the implementation of the regulation which provides better and clearer status of b4 (embassy, foreign, and international) schools in The Netherlands. Their inspection to b4 schools will be carried out as limited as possible and only applies to the school where there are pupils with Dutch passport, and merely focused on the quality and standard of Dutch language taught to the Dutch students.
It was a valuable and fruitful opportunity, and a hospitable occasion as well.
