SIN WASSENAAR WELCOMES HEERBEECK COLLEGE’S DELEGATES

Wassenaar, 4 March 2015 — SIN Wassenaar welcomed a delegation from the Heerbeeck College, Best and the Hibiscus Foundation. They consisted of 3 students and a teacher, Mr. Rob Bos; and Mr. Hans Rufi and Ms. Ine Waworuntu of the Hibiscus Foundation (Yayasan Kembang Sepatu). In his welcoming address our Principal, Mr. Budi Wahyu Rianto briefly introduced SIN Wassenaar as well as expressed his — on behalf of our civitas academica — gratitude for the visit. In turn, representing the delegation, Mr. Hans Rufi enlightened the audience about the Heerbeeck College and Hibiscus Foundation, inclding its capacity-building programmes and activities in Indonesia. Mr. Rufi himself was born in the former Dutch East Indies (nowadays modern Indonesia).

A rather extended introduction about Indonesia, its culture, education system, etc. was presented by the Year 7 students in English and Dutch (Salma, Jasmijn, Muti, and Rido as technical assistant). A tour of location was also provided for Heerbeeck College’s students, guided by Ardia and friends. The visit which was facilitated by the Indonesian Attaché of Education and Culture was closed with a lunch of nasi goreng menu (fried rice) specially prepared by Bu Aty (from our student dormitory). Football game was also part of the closing programme.
